Stay Hydrated this Summer with a Mint, Ginger and Basil Seeds Tequila Cooler

Staying well hydrated is an essential part of beating the scorching Indian summer heat. Adding Basil seeds also known as Sabja seeds to your drink is one way to achieved that.

Basil Seeds are one of those superfoods that are low in calories but packed with nutrients, minerals, proteins, fiber, carbs, and antioxidants that have immense health benefits, and one of them is reducing body heat. This makes it a perfect ingredient for summer cocktails.

Basil seeds have been prized in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicines for their therapeutic use since ancient times. Native to India and Southeast Asian countries for over 5000 years. It is one of those quintessential ingredients that have woven their way into many cuisines and beverages.

When soaked in water, the Sabja Seeds turn gelatinous and the pectin-rich gum from these seeds are often used to stabilise and thicken food mixtures like salad dressings and ice cream as well as beverages. The gelatinous seeds have the texture of tapioca that give the drinks a little bit of chewy substance and adds a very slight earthy flavour to the drink.

We decided to give it a stir in this flavourful summer thirst quencher. Fresh lime juice and mint add a magical refreshing quality to a drink. The Saffron Honey Nectar imparts an earthy, grassy flavour that mixes seamlessly with the Tequila. The Ginger Beer adds that fresh clean ginger taste that rounds off the drink and makes it a soothing and utterly delightful cocktail.

This light and refreshingly delicious cocktail is just what one needs to cool off this summer.
