Spring is the season of new beginnings, of nature’s youth. It is the season of beauty, fragrance, fresh leaves, beautiful vibrant flowers, chirping birds, buzzing bees, and colourful butterflies.
Amidst all of nature’s beautiful bounty of spring, we have chosen another gorgeous flower called the Butterfly Pea flower for our next spring drink.
The scientific name for this vibrant blue Butterfly Pea Flower is Clitoria Ternatea. No kidding! It really is the name. The flower blooms in the early Spring – late Summer period. It is native to the tropical climate and is found in the Southeast Asian countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, India & Sri Lanka.
The flower is usually used in caffeine-free herbal teas or tisane. When the flowers are steeped in hot water, it results in a bright blue drink that has the ability to change colour from blue to purple with the addition of lemon juice. The Butterfly Pea Flower is a powerhouse of antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, and immune-boosting components. It makes for a great detox and weight loss beverage. It also helps in digestion, upliftment of mood, hair growth, skin elasticity improvement, controls diabetes, boosts eye vision, and is also good for the heart. All in all, a perfect beverage for your spa.

Tasting Notes: This drink slips down the throat with so much grace that we cannot stop drinking it. The symphony of the botanicals in the Gin with the orange in the Cointreau and citrus blast of the lemon juice hit all the right notes. The Butterfly Pea Flower impart the earthy notes to the drink. The egg white adds the creamy & silky mouthfeel to the drink. A fresh, vibrant, and well balanced cocktail.
